Max Essa is a DJ and producer active since the early ’90s, with releases on respected labels including Warp Records and Paper Recordings, and early roots alongside the D.I.Y Sound System. His later work for Is It Balearic? Recordings earned support from legends such as Andrew Weatherall and David Mancuso, building a global following.

With albums on Victor Entertainment (Vacations Never Taken, 2015) and Music For Dreams (Lanterns, 2018), alongside releases for Razor-N-Tape, Hell Yeah!, and remixes for Compost, Ubiquity, and Leng, his output remains both prolific and distinctive.

Based in Japan since 2008, he performs nationwide and internationally, and is a long-time resident DJ at TWO ROOMS. His extended residencies also include Aoyama Tunnel and Tokyo institutions such as Bar Bonobo.
